Certificate in the Principles of Dementia Care Level 2

This qualification aims to assist learners to develop their knowledge and understanding of the principles of caring for those with dementia. It covers areas such as person-centred care, the influence of positive communication methods, issues around the use of medication for those with dementia and the importance of providing appropriate activities.

What will you do?

This qualification covers:

Dementia Awareness and person centred care

Factors that influence communication and interaction for individuals

Supporting individuals with medication administration

Benefit of meaningful activity for individuals.

How will I learn?

Module text books are provided with all learning materials included for your directed study.

How am I assessed?

Assessment involves completion of relevant work booklets which are completed as distance learning and submitted to the college.

What’s next?
Upon completion of the course, students can apply for other distance learning programmes, use as APL for QCF qualifications where appropriate and use their newly acquired knowledge in practice.

You need:

A willingness to learn and a keen interest in learning more about infection prevention and control in health can social care settings.
