Digital Media

This practical course provides you with a great opportunity to design and produce a wide range of digital media from mobile phone apps to animations, websites and graphics. You will learn through work-based projects to develop your creative skills in digital media and content design. You will work in our design studios equipped with industry standard software and hardware providing you with everything you need to turn your ambitions into reality. This course is equivalent of up to three and a half A levels.

What will you do?

With a focus on work this practical course will see you creating your own projects and assignments in our design studios. You will study units such as VFX, Web and App Development, Animation, Digital Graphics, Flash for Computer Games, 3D Modelling, 3D Environments plus many more exciting units.

How will I learn?

You will learn through both practical and theoretical sessions.

How am I assessed?

Assessment is through assignment based work. The emphasis is on practical work, although a certain amount of written work is required.

You need:

An enthusiasm for computer games and a minimum of four GCSEs graded between 9-4/A*-C, including English and Maths.

Why English and Maths matter…

Careers in creative media could require following or writing detailed instructions, writing reports, resizing image dimensions and calculating.

Progress to university or employment in the VFX, animation or web industry.

Apprenticeship

Digital Learning Design (Level 4)

You’ve probably used a VLE or some kind of online learning platform in school or college. This apprenticeship gives you the skills you need to design and produce these online portals ensuring that they’re easy to use and fit for purpose.

As this apprenticeship is a level 4 qualification you will need to be in full time employment in a relevant industry.

Entry Requirements: To complete this apprenticeship you must be in full-time employment and hold a level 3 qualification (e.g. A-Levels, Advanced Apprenticeship) or have significant relevant responsibilities in your current job role.

Assessment: You will be allocated a course tutor/assessor to provide guided learning and support with assignments. You will be observed in the workplace by your allocated assessor.
