Is it right for you?

Yes if you enjoy hands-on learning and areprepared to put in the hard work to be the best you can be. With the right skill set, determination, knowledge and practical skills, learning a trade can open the door to loads of opportunities from working with an industry giant to setting up your own business.

Vocational

If you are a hands-on, practical kind of person and like to get things working, qualifying in a trade might be for you. There are many opportunities to work for large and small companies – or you could become self-employed. You could work in industry and manufacturing, such as the car trade if you’re an electrician or plant technician. Work in theatre or entertainments by being a lighting/stage technician is another option – or you could work for the local council housing department as a joiner, or as a bricklayer. A construction operative for a big construction firm might be for you but it’s not just about being a sparky or chippy!
