Performing Arts student Jack, 17, has secured a scholarship with one of the most prestigious theatre schools in the country.

The Level 3 Musical Theatre student, who joined us from English Martyrs, will be heading to Laine Theatre Arts next year with a fully-paid scholarship after receiving a Dance and Drama Award.

“I was buzzing!, said Jack: “I auditioned and found out from Mrs Laine on the day that I had secured a place at the school.”

“Then I got a letter to say I had been awarded a full scholarship that will cover my three years there.

The 17-year-old is currently the dance captain in performing arts and works with tutors Sara and Hannah on the choreography before performances — such as the upcoming production of Annie.

Speaking on his time at the college so far, Jack said: “Studying at Stockton Riverside College has prepared me so much for going to the Laine Theatre next year. We learn in a very similar way to how they do at there; which is one of the best theatre schools in the country.

“We are treated like we were in professional performers, not students. I’d recommend Stockton Riverside College to anyone who wants to learn in an environment that prepares you for the industry.”
