Former St Patrick’s Catholic College student, Rebecca, always had an interest in aviation and was keen to specifically follow this career pathway from the second she left school. This was one of the reasons why the now 21-year-old, decided to study our Level 3 Aviation course here at Stockton Riverside College.

Rebecca, who left the college in 2019, is now a proud alumnus and keen to share her success in the industry to help inspire those following in her footsteps.

After achieving her level 3, Rebecca continued at Stockton Riverside to gain her FdA in Aviation and Tourism, before going on to study at Northumbria University, where she completed her top-up degree in business and international management.

With a lot of pride, she said: “Achieving my wings after my initial training course at Jet 2 is one of my proudest achievements to date, along with graduating with a first-class degree!” With her wings intact, Rebecca successfully gained employment with Jet 2 and is now working as short haul cabin crew, flying people on their holidays across Europe. She said: “Every day is so different, flying with different crew and meeting so many new passengers. It’s extremely hard work but also so rewarding getting to see a different country every day.”

We took Rebecca back to where it all began, when we asked her to reflect on her time at Stockton Riverside College. She said: “My favourite memories were when we had the opportunities to visit British Airways and Virgin Atlantic. I found it really inspiring as this was the type of environment, we would eventually be working in.” She added: “I loved my course as every day I learnt something new that I was truly interested in.”

When asked if she would recommend the college to others wishing to study aviation, Rebecca said: “Yes, definitely, the tutors all have industry experience and really want you to succeed.”

Rebecca knew her dream and did not stop until she reached it, even if it was 33,000 feet high! Unlike the planes she now works on, Rebecca’s dreams have no limit. She said “In the future I hope to progress within Jet 2, as it is such a growing business. I hope to either be in a managerial role or become a cabin crew trainer.”

We wish Rebecca continued success with her career and hope to be greeted by her on a flight to one of many spectacular European destinations sometime soon!
