Art and Design
The UK’s creative industries are now worth a record £84.1 billion to the UK economy. Art and Design is a subject that could lead to a well-paid and fulfilling career in the Arts.
The course offers you the chance to explore your own creativity, develop your ideas, think critically and learn to express yourself artistically with growing expertise. There is no greater satisfaction than being absorbed in the creative process and the course is tailored to provide you with this experience.

Location: SRC Bede Sixth Form
You’ll explore different types of media including drawing and painting, textiles, printing, and photography. Learning through workshops and demonstrations you’ll explore different materials to suit your creative style.
Your learning experiences will include visits to galleries, workshops and ongoing guidance in the use of materials and development of ideas. You will have full ownership over your projects and all avenues of exploration will be facilitated.
All units are based on four assessment objectives covering the student’s ability to research, experiment with materials, refine their techniques, and develop an idea towards a fully realised outcome.
Materials will be provided, but you will have the opportunity to buy folders and your own art materials at a reduced rate if desired.
To have achieved A*/9-C/4 grades in at least seven GCSE programmes, including GCSE English and Maths, and a grade C/4 in GCSE Art, Graphics or Textiles.
You could go on to study a creative subject at university. Future careers could include graphic design, interior design, creative direction, product and set design, and many more…
