Facebook Groups Terms of Use and Safety Information
By using any College Facebook group you agree to abide by Facebook’s own terms of use and Stockton Riverside College’s Acceptable Use Policy.
Your access to any Facebook Group operated by the College is subject to you being a current member of Stockton Riverside College staff, student or other authorised person. For those accessing Alumni Groups, you must have a similar past association with the College. Furthermore, any access to any of the College’s Facebook Groups is at the College’s discretion.
Essentially the College rules for Facebook Groups are:
- Be nice to everyone and respect them.
(https://www.gov.uk/guidance/equality-act-2010-guidance) - Be constructive in criticism or comment where debate is welcomed.
- Don’t use Facebook Groups to cause physical or emotional harm to any person or thing.
- Don’t ask staff to ‘friend’ you online – they’re not allowed. Students should refuse all ‘friend’ requests from staff.
- Staff and students must not share personal information (mobile number, home address, date of birth, etc) in Facebook Groups.
- Staff and students must not use Private Messaging to communicate. All online communications must be available for monitoring, if necessary. Staff must use group Messaging and include at least one other Admin, so your communications will not be private.
- Don’t hold tit-for-tat arguments that don’t concern everyone in Facebook Groups – arrange to work things out in a measured and mutually respectful manner in person.
Remember that access to Facebook Groups through college systems is a privilege, not a right.
