A course that comes with a guaranteed interview has got to be worth a second look, right?

That was certainly the case for Orangebox Training Solutions student Glen.

Signing up for a two-week introductory warehousing and storage course, delivered in partnership with the Education Training Collective, the 25-year-old had his sights set on a career with Amazon.

His efforts paid off as Glen walked away with not one, but two job offers!

“I hadn’t done a training course before, but it was pretty much what I expected,” said Glen

But unlike most other courses, this one came with that all-important guaranteed job interview.

Having previously worked in retail and before that studying music at university, Glen was looking for a new direction after finding himself out of work last year.

He said: “This course offered the basics such as health and safety and warehousing. In the long term I thought it could only be beneficial as it offered extra skills and qualifications.”

In reality the course, which was funded by the Tees Valley Mayor and Combined Authority’s devolved Adult Education Budget, offered so much more.

Now working as a warehouse operative with the e-commerce giant, it has no doubt proven a busy festive season for Glen.

He said: “So far it is going well. This is the type of job that is always going to be in demand particularly with the current focus on online shopping.”

As for the course, he said: “The tutor was good and had experience of the industry which meant he was able to back up his teaching with personal understanding.”

And offering great preparation for the job, he added: “At the end of the day I got the role I wanted, so I would recommend it.”
