Working as part of the college’s own independent student film company, Ufilms, the team entered a competition run by the English Gambling Education Hub (EGEH).

Named first runner up for their production, UFilms was the recipient of a £500 cash prize!

A representative from the EGEH said: “The movie was deemed by a panel of judges to be of excellent quality and we at the EGEH were very excited by the movie they put out and feel that the students are a credit to the college and the course.”

Lead for the student-run project, Alex, said: “I had seen the competition come up and jumped at the chance to produce something, so once I got the go ahead from my tutor and had assembled a cast and crew we were set to go.

“Out of all the projects I have done at the college, it’s certainly one I’m most proud of. My original concept changed quite a bit, but that’s the thing about film, things develop and set you on a new path.”

Now studying music production at another college, Alex certainly valued his time at Stockton Riverside College, saying: “You come out with a CV, you get lots of experience and credits to your name. Of course, you have to put the work in, but you get the rewards.

“I enjoyed my time at Stockton Riverside College and the opportunities I was given, like the film competition, and I even ended up gaining paid work with an independent production company.”
