Introduction

This course is a pre-service award for those who wish to teach in the post-compulsory education and training sector and specialise in the teaching of literacy or numeracy. This course is only applicable for potential students who wish to specialise in teaching maths or English. The qualification has been endorsed by the Standards Verification UK as meeting the national requirements for practitioners carrying out the full teaching role.

What will I learn

You will study: • Evidence Informed Learning and Teaching • Developing Learning and Teaching • Thinking and Learning in Teaching • Enhancing Learning and Teaching • Learning & Teaching in English (Literacy) or Learning & Teaching in Maths (Numeracy)

How will I learn

You will experience a variety of methods of teaching and learning including lectures, workshops and seminars. You must complete a minimum of 120 hours of teaching practice in an appropriate teaching environment/placement.

What's next

After successful completion of this course you can progress onto the BA (Hons) Education Studies. This course is a continuing professional development award for teachers, working in the Lifelong Learning Sector. Completion of this award can contribute to the maintenance of License to Practice, Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills status.
