The BA (Hons) Therapeutic Counselling provides qualified counsellors with the opportunity to top-up their existing professional diploma or foundation degree in counselling to a full honours degree. The programme aims to provide further development opportunities for counsellors through the acquisition of academic and professional skills to meet continuing professional development requirements. Students will acquire a sound theoretical framework related to a range of issues in professional practice by reflecting on practice and undertaking relevant research.

What will I learn

This qualification is for qualified counsellors who wish to gain a full honours degree in counselling. This degree is made up of five modules: • A Therapeutic Framework for Working with Diversity • Client Issues in Therapeutic Practice • Counselling Research • Theory and Practice of Group Counselling • Dissertation Candidates are expected to be working with clients within a professional framework in order to apply their learning on this course.

How will I learn

Learning will be classroom based with a variety of lectures, role play, group work, presentations and a small-scale independent research study

You will be assessed using a variety of methods including academic and reflective essays, presentations and the production of a dissertation.
