Course overview

This full-time programme is delivered over three days (including placement) and is a foundation degree for health and social care practitioners.

Level 4 modules:

  • Learning to Learn
  • Developing Effective Care Practice
  • Maintaining the Safety of Vulnerable People and Staff in Care Settings
  • The Psychosocial Context of Care
  • Carry out 150 placement hours in a healthcare or social care setting. Students are responsible for arranging their own placements.

Level 5 modules:

  • Applying Effective Care Practice
  • Principles of Public Health & Wellbeing
  • Understanding Evidence-Based Practice
  • Social Care and Support for Individuals with Specific Needs
  • Carry out 150 placement hours in a healthcare or social care related setting. Students are responsible for arranging their own placements.

<p>Be 18 years old or over by 31 December in the first year of study</p><p>Have a level 4 Health and Social Care qualification</p><p>Have some experience working in the sector</p><p>Have an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)</p><p>Attend an interview.</p>

Course information

You can progress onto a range of health and social care programmes determined by students’ own area of interest. Progression on to the final year of the degree programme (Level 6 Top-Up) or employment within health and social care, particularly management roles or an associate practitioner.
