What will you do?

This qualification emphasises the need for the development of personal management capabilities as a starting point. It focuses then on people and operational management principles and practices, and the development of a basic appreciation of resource control and use. Across all of this it also encompasses the need to make effective use of information in the decision-making process.

How will I learn?

Your learning will take place through a range of methods including classroom-based lectures, workshop activities, small group work, practical case studies and individual tutorials.

How am I assessed?

The diploma is awarded to candidates who successfully complete the seven unit based assignments.

What’s next?

On successful completion of the L3 Diploma in First Line management you may wish to progress to the L5 Diploma in Leadership and Management which will enable you to further develop your operational management skills and enhance your career opportunities

It is expected that you will already be at Certificate in Team Leading or equivalent standard qualification before commencing this programme. If you do not hold the certificate in Team Leading, your management experience at and around this level may be taken into account. Entry onto the programme is via an interview, following completion of an application form.

CIPD Foundation Diploma in Human Resource Management Level 3

What are the entry requirements?

  • CMI Diploma in First Line Management or equivalent

Apprenticeship

An Apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to get into the world of work and earn real money whilst gaining nationally recognised qualifications.

If you are a school leaver, currently unemployed or looking to start a new career, Stockton Riverside College can help you to find the right Apprenticeship and employer for you.

Team Building and Management Apprenticeships

Team Building and Management Apprenticeships will provide you with the leadership, communication, coaching, problem-solving and decision-making skills needed for careers in management and supervision.

Main Duties:

As a level 2 apprentice, your duties may include:
• Monitoring work
• Giving feedback
• Briefing teams
• Supporting team members
• Resolving problems
• Arranging supplies
• Project management
• Delivering and improving customer service.

As a level 3 apprentice, your duties may include:
• Planning, allocating and monitoring the work of a team
• Supporting team members
• Managing conflict
• Resolving problems
• Project management
• Agreeing budgets
• Managing customer service

Assessment:

You will be allocated a course tutor/assessor to provide guided learning and support with assignments. You will be observed in the workplace by your allocated assessor.

You need:

Apprenticeships require a good level of English, maths and/or ICT. Our initial assessment and your GCSE results will help inform us of your ability and what support we can offer to get you to the level required.

If you do not hold the relevant GCSEs you will need to complete the Functional Skills qualifications as part of your apprenticeship.

You must be:

  • at least 16
  • a UK resident
  • in employment. We can help with this

To undertake a level 3 apprenticeship, you need a level 2 qualification or to have experience in a relevant field.

Duration:

Level 2: 12 months
Level 3: 18 months

Level 5 Diploma in Management

The average amount of time spent on developing management professionals in the UK is far lower than other European countries; this is something that we hope to remedy. Employers can train staff in a work based management environment, using their own methods combined with the specialist management skills provided by our dedicated staff.

Entry Requirements:

It is advised that staff have achieved a level 3 standard (e.g. A-Levels, level 3 apprenticeship) or have significant managerial responsibilities in their current job role.

Job Roles:

Manager, Head of Function, Area Manager, Line manager

Mandatory Units:
• Manage own professional development within an organisation
• Develop working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
• Plan, allocate and monitor work in own area of responsibility
• Provide leadership and direction for own area of responsibility

Optional Units – The rest of the qualification is made up of a series of relevant and contextualised modules dedicated to your job role.
