What will you do?

These courses offer an opportunity to help you identify your personal goals, improving your employability skills and develop your maths and English. Working in small groups and on supported trips you’ll take part in practical activities to help you achieve your own targets and put the skills you’ve learnt into practice. Your work, will be recorded in workbooks, and you’ll also take part in enterprise activities and a work or vocational placement.

Vocational

Foundation skills provide young people who are working at a range of levels with both the skills to cope with life independently and the potential to progress towards further opportunities in learning or employment. Taught by skilled and caring staff, our students grow in confidence and understanding and benefit from work experiences and enrichment activities and advice on their next steps.

Employability Skills Award – Choices Pathway – Entry Level 1, 2, 3/ Level 1

Our course can enable you to live more independently, continue in education or develop employability skills our foundation skills courses could be the right choice for you. Our personalised courses can help you build the skills and confidence you need to achieve your personal goals.

Attendance: Full-time

Duration: One year

Starting date: September 2020

What will you do?

This pathway offers you the opportunity to develop your skills and confidence. As well as developing your understanding and practical skills, you will have the chance to work towards your personal goals, improve your employability skills and then put those skills into practice.

Working in small groups and through supported trips you will take part in a range of practical activities, recording your progress along the way. You will get the chance to take part in a range of enterprise activities, enrichment projects and you could take part in a work or vocational placement.


 

How am I assessed?

You will be required to complete activities throughout the year and record your work in workbooks which will make up your learning file.


What’s next?

You might choose to continue your studies by moving on to a vocational course, or you may achieve a greater level of independent living or move on to supported employment or voluntary work.


You need:

Employability Skills Certificate at Entry Level or Level 1.

On all of our foundation skills courses, you will continue to develop your maths and English skills.

These courses offer an opportunity to help you identify your personal goals, improve your employability skills and develop your English  and maths. Working in small groups and on supported trips you’ll take part in practical activities to help you achieve your own targets and put the skills you’ve learnt into practice as well as a work experience placement. You will have opportunities to take part in enterprise and a variety of different enrichment activities and off-site trips.

On all of our foundation skills courses you will continue to develop your Maths and English skills.


How will I learn?

The learning takes place in small groups, both in the classroom and on supported trips to deepen the learning.  You will take part in a range of practical activities to enable you to put the skills you are learning into practice


How am I assessed?

You will be required to complete activities throughout the year and record your work in workbooks which will make up your learning file.


What’s next?

With all of our Employability Skills courses your next move depends on you and your own goals. If you want to go on to further studies you can progress through the Employability Skills courses before moving on to a vocational course or you may achieve a greater level of independent living or you could go on to supported employment or voluntary work.

There are no formal entry requirements.


What else do I need to know?

Throughout the course you will be encouraged and supported to become an independent learner. This course will involve a supported work experience placement

Have you got a passion for IT? Do you want to develop your skills and knowledge of creative media? If you want to explore digital media and IT and develop skills to live more independently, continue in education or develop employability skills our foundation skills courses could be the right choice for you. Our personalised courses can help you build the skills and confidence you need to achieve your personal goals.

On all of our foundation skills courses, you will continue to develop your maths and English skills.
