Course overview

We believe there is nothing more important than taking responsibility for a child’s well- being. Whether working as a teacher, nursery nurse or in the care industry, it is vital you can offer a service that is caring, supportive, fun and stimulating. Our courses will show you how to develop all of these skills and apply them at work.

Throughout this course you will learn the basics of what it takes to work with babies and children. You will benefit from a combination of theory and practical sessions covering a range of topics including development, safeguarding, health and safety and organising activities. You will understand how children develop and learn effective techniques for interacting with young children. You will also get the chance to apply what you have learnt on a work placement.

A minimum of three GCSEs grade 2 or above, including English Language and Maths.

Course information

All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods. This could include a portfolio of evidence, written assignments, posters, presentations and professional discussion.

If you do not already have an English and maths GCSE grade 9-4/A*-C, you will continue to work towards this as part of your main program of study*.
