Course overview
The early years are critical in shaping a child’s development, and as an early years practitioner, you’ll play a vital role in nurturing their social, emotional, and cognitive growth. But that’s not all, the field of early years and education is constantly evolving, with new research and technologies emerging, making it an exciting and dynamic industry to be a part of. So, if you’re looking for a fulfilling and rewarding career that will challenge and inspire you, look no further than early years and education.
You will develop the skills needed to work with babies and young children through a combination of theory and practical sessions. Covering subjects including development, safeguarding, health and safety and organising activities, you will understand how children develop and learn effective techniques for interacting with young children. You’ll also get the chance to apply what you have learnt on a work placement of 350 hours minimum in an early years setting.
Course information
All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods. This could include direct observation within the workplace, a portfolio of evidence and written assignments.
Progress to one of our Foundation Degrees or into employment as a Level 3 Early Years Practitioner.
A relevant Level 2 qualification or four GCSEs grade 3 or above, these must include English language or maths plus a satisfactory DBS check. If you don’t already have an English and maths GCSE grade 9-4/A*-C, you can continue to work towards this as part of your studies.
The qualification is delivered through a range of both taught and practical sessions, enabling learners to obtain the skills required to work with young children. Blended learning approaches will be used with at least some content delivered online.
