Introduction

Students will have practical sessions in developing lighting, sound and set design as well as developing their academic skills in the Contextual Studies Module. This module aims to prepare students for dissertation at Level 6, grow critical thinking and academic skills. Each student will also undertake a work placement with a local theatre or theatre company for a week where they will shadow a current Stage Manager in a professional venue. They will provide lighting, sound, stage management and technical support for productions throughout the year. The programme has a 80/20 Practical/Academic ratio.

You will study the arts in a range of ways including practical workshops, lectures, seminars and tutorials. Tutorials help you to discover and develop your personal aptitude for your chosen career path.

What's next

Graduates will expect to work in the arts and entertainment industries, education and the media. Successful completion of this course can lead to progression into the industry such as crew, lighting operators, arts managers or assistant stage managers or on to further higher level study.

You will be assessed in a variety of ways, including essays, reports, presentations and performance observations. Each assessment is carefully designed to give you the necessary tools to succeed.
