Introduction

Within our Academy of Performance and Technical Arts (APTA) we strive to create interesting, diverse, relevant, and current performance opportunities for all students. The course will provide opportunities for students to be multi-skilled in all areas of performing arts, in line with current industry standards. You will learn from highly trained teachers and often, current industry standard professionals across all genres, whilst benefiting from collaborative projects across the APTA department. You may also have the opportunity to work alongside or perform at professional venues, including Stockton Globe and ARC.

What will I learn

Unit 1 – Applied Professional Practice Unit 2 – Specialist Performance Practice Unit 3 – Specialist Performance Project There are 3 pathways to this programme: Pathway 1 – Performing Arts (Acting, Dance, Musical Theatre) • Students will have lessons in Singing, Acting, Dance, Acting for Camera, Academic Skills and Audition Prep. • They will then choose a further performance study pathway to create performance material (Acting for Stage and Screen, Dance or Musical Theatre) Pathway 2 – Production Arts (Makeup, Lighting, Sound, Stage Management) • Students will have lessons in Academic Skills and Industry Preparation. • They will work alongside the technicians at ARC Theatre, Stockton Globe, Billingham Forum Theatre and Stockton Borough Council’s Events Team to gain industry experience. Pathway 3 – Film and TV • Students will have lessons in Acting for Camera, Producing, Directing, Camera and Lighting Operation, Editing and Film Production. • They will then develop freelance skills and crate their own material.

What's next

On completion of this course students could apply for a Higher Education Course at a University, Conservatoire or Stage Schools.

Additional Information

You may have the opportunity to be involved with community performances at Stockton Globe, as well as performances at ARC and Billingham Forum. Our actors also take part in additional programmes such as National Theatre Connections. You will be able to work with current industry standard professionals across all genres. Students on this course are also invited on theatre trips to London and New York!

This course is free to students aged 18 and has excellent progression to the country’s leading stage schools supported by our staff.
