Course overview

Our Level 2 art and design course will give you the skills and experience you need to draw yourself a bright future in a range of fields, including design, fashion, illustration, tattooing and more.

We have excellent links with industry and local businesses, and you’ll benefit from guest speakers and work-related projects. By the end of this course, you’ll have a solid foundation in various artistic media and be well-equipped to pursue further study in the industry.

You will carry out a range of projects to further develop your skills in drawing & painting, sculpture, textiles, illustration, and graphics. You will also visit exhibitions, have a go at location work, see your own work exhibited and complete a work placement.

<p>Four GCSEs at grade 3. Or a relevant Level 1 qualification or equivalent.</p><p>You may need to study English or Maths as part of your course. This will be discussed with you at interview.</p>

Course information

You will develop a portfolio through a mix of practical sessions and theory lessons. You will then write a final project proposal and produce a final piece to be exhibited in the end of year exhibition.

Basic art and design equipment will be required. You will be provided with a list at induction that can be purchased from the college.

If you do not already have an English and Maths GCSE grade 4-9, you will continue to work towards this as part of your main program of study*.
