This qualification provides an ideal taster for those who may be new to the sector or new to the world of work. It is accessible to learners of all ages who may want to understand more about working in health and social care. It aims to introduce some basic concepts of caring and preparation for employment in the sector.
This qualification covers:
Principles of Communication in Adult Social Care Settings.
Principles of Personal Development in Adult Social Care Settings.
Principles of Diversity, Equality and Inclusion in Adult Social Care Settings.
Principles of Safeguarding and Protection in Health and Social Care.
Introduction to Duty of Care in Health, Social Care or Children’s and Young People’s Settings.
Understand the Role of the Social Care Worker.
Understand Person-Centred Approaches in Adult Social Care Settings.
Understand Health and Safety in Social Care Settings.
Understand how to Handle Information in Social Care Settings.
Course information
Assessment involves completion of relevant work booklets or online units which are completed as distance learning and submitted to the college.
Upon completion of the course, students can apply for other distance learning programmes or where appropriate use their newly acquired knowledge in practice.
- You must be at least 19 years old.
- You must have lived within England for a minimum of three years and/or have residency status.
- The course is free, but a £120 withdrawal or non-completion fee applies if you do not complete your course.
