Course overview
This qualification aims to give learners the necessary knowledge and understanding to work with individuals with learning disabilities or difficulties. They will explore the principles of safeguarding and positive risk taking and gain awareness of the autistic spectrum.
This qualification covers:
Understanding the Context of Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities.
Principles of Safeguarding and Protection in Health and Social Care.
Introduction to Personalisation in Social Care.
Principles of Positive Risk Taking for Individuals with Disabilities.
Introductory Awareness of Autistic Spectrum Conditions.
Principles of Supporting Individuals with a Learning Disability to Access healthcare.
Course information
Assessment involves completion of relevant work booklets or online units which are completed as distance learning and submitted to the college.
Upon completion of the course, students can apply for other distance learning programmes or where appropriate use their newly acquired knowledge in practice.
- You must be at least 19 years old.
- You must have lived in England for a minimum of three years and/or have residency status.
- The course is free, but a £120 withdrawal or non-completion fee applies if you do not complete your course.
