Course overview
This full-time programme is delivered over three days (including placement), and this is the first year of a foundation degree for Health and Social Care practitioners.
Level 4 modules:
- Learning to Learn
- Developing Effective Care Practice
- Maintaining the Safety of Vulnerable People and Staff in Care Settings
- The Psychosocial Context of Care
You will carry out 150 placement hours in a healthcare or social care setting. Students are responsible for arranging their own placements.
Course information
You can progress onto a range of Health and Social Care programmes determined by students’ own area of interest. This could include progression onto Level 5 (second year of programme) or into University or employment.
Be 18 years old or over by 31 December in the first year of study
Have a level 3 Health and Social Care qualification
Supported with GCSEs grade 4 (grade C) or above, or equivalent
Functional or Key Skills Level 2 maths and English if not included in the above GCSE qualifications
Have some experience working in the sector (desirable but experience will be gained through placement)
Have an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
Attend an interview.
The programme is assessed through course work which includes essays, reports, case studies, presentations, research reports, portfolio work and placement based assessment.
