Introduction

Are you interested in a creative career? If you would love to work in TV and theatre but would prefer to be behind the scenes, this course is perfect for you.

What will I learn

This course is ideal for students who would like to design and create costumes, props and set for Film, TV and Theatre performances. Working collaboratively with other departments you will work to live assignment briefs, which will allow you to gain an understanding of a career backstage in the performing arts industry. Creativity is a must for this course as you’ll need to research, design, sketch and construct, learning how to use a range of media, materials and techniques to create amazing costumes, sets and props.

How will I learn

There will be a range of practical tasks for all students to actively take part in as well as educational visits, including London to enhance the classroom learning.

What's next

You could continue your studies on a relevant university course to study costume, set design or model making for Film, TV and Theatre or find work/ an apprenticeship in the industry.

Additional Information

Basic art and design equipment will be required. You will be provided with a list at induction. Alongside this qualification learners will attend functional skills or GCSE maths and English to support their further development in these area, if required.
