For candidates who are school leavers, a grade 3 (grade D) in this subject is required. For those who are speakers of languages (other than English) a Higher-Intermediate ESOL qualification is required. All candidates will be asked to complete a literacy and numeracy test.

Introduction

The aim of this course is to help students to develop an understanding of animals and plants in the wider world. Biology helps individuals understand the interaction between different living organisms and the life processes. The GCSE Biology provides an excellent foundation to build on to progress to further study or to accompany a teaching qualification.

What will I learn

You will develop a wide range of skills, which will include - Designing an investigation; collecting and presenting data; understanding limitations of scientific evidence.

How will I learn

Class sessions are run on a Tuesday evening for 3 hours and will involve lectures and demonstrations. There will also be interactive learning using the VLE.

What's next

Learners can apply for A level biology or to University (teacher training etc.)

All candidates will be asked to complete a literacy and numeracy test. Suitable candidates will be offered a place onto the programme and sent further information regarding enrolment.
