Introduction

This qualification provides learners with underpinning knowledge in areas such as healthy eating, nutritional needs, weight management, eating disorders and food safety in the home environment. The qualification supports the Government drive to empower individuals to make healthy choices, a key focus of which is the need to educate and change behaviour on diet and nutrition to reduce the prevalence of obesity.

This qualification covers: Explore Principles of Health Eating. Consider Nutritional Needs of a Variety of Individuals. Use Food and Nutrition Information to Plan a Healthy Diet. The Principles of Weight Management. Understanding Eating Disorders. Principles of Food Safety for the Home Environment.

Module text books are provided with all learning materials included for your directed study.

What's next

Upon completion of the course, students can apply for other distance learning programmes, use as APL for QCF qualifications where appropriate and use their newly acquired knowledge in practice.
