Introduction

This qualification aims to assist learners to develop their knowledge and understanding of the principles of caring for those with Dementia. It covers areas such as person-centred care, the influence of positive communication methods, issues around the use of medication for those with Dementia and the importance of providing appropriate activities.

This qualification covers: Dementia Awareness. Person-centred Approach to the Care and Support of Individuals with Dementia. Factors that Influence Communication and Interaction for Individuals. Understanding Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Dementia Care. Administration of Medication to Individuals with Dementia. Behaviour in the Context of Dementia. Benefit of Engaging in Social Activities.

What's next

Upon completion of the course, students can apply for other distance learning programmes, use as APL for QCF qualifications where appropriate and use their newly acquired knowledge in practice. You can also apply for a Level 3 distance learning course in Dementia Care.
