Course overview
This qualification is intended for candidates who have already acquired a recognised qualification in counselling skills and want to take the next step in training to become a counsellor, learn more about counselling theory, ethics and mental health and be prepared for work as a professional counsellor in an agency setting.

Course information
Each candidate is required to complete a portfolio of evidence showing the standards associated with each unit have been met. Learners are also required to complete an external assessment.
Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to the FdA Counselling programme at Stockton Riverside College.
In order to progress on to the Level 3, Certificate in Counselling Studies you should hold either the Level 2, Certificate in Counselling Skills or equivalent Counselling skills qualification (at least 90 GLH).
Please note that online Counselling training courses do not constitute as a recognised qualification to progress on to the Level 3.
This course may not be suitable for those who are in severe emotional difficulty and/or severe psychological confusion

Learning will be classroom based with a variety of lectures, role play, skills practice, group work and individual study.
