Course overview
We can teach you real skills that can give you the gateway to a great industry and these skills will stay with you for life. Talented and trustworthy tradespeople are always in demand. On our courses you’ll not only get the enhanced practical skills you need to find work but our team of tutors, who are all industry experienced, will help give you the confidence and know how that could even see you go on to set up your own business.
You will build on your skills including fixtures, door linings, joists, hanging doors molding, skirting and erecting timber frames. You’ll pick up maintenance skills, communication and safe work practice. You will also get the chance to take a work placement.
Course information
Continuous course work throughout the course and practical assessments.
Students will undertake mandatory worthwhile work experience within the first year of the programme. This will be organized and managed by a dedicated placement officer and the wide network of collaborative partnerships and companies within the industry that work with the college to give students experience.
Level 1 Construction Skills Certificate – Joinery Pathway or four GCSEs grade 9-1 would be desirable.
If you don’t already have an English and maths GCSE grade 9-4, you will continue to work towards this as part of your main program of study*.
