Course overview
Bricklaying is a highly rewarding profession that offers a great sense of satisfaction and pride. As you develop your skills, our Level 2 qualification will see you take on more complex structures with expert guidance from our industry-experienced tutors.

You will learn building methods and construction technology, setting out complex masonry structures, solid brickwork structures, thin joint masonry methods, safe working practices, quantities, and communication.
Course information
You will undertake a series of practical and theory end of unit assessments. Theory assessments are multiple choice questions with two online tests. Practical has three different tasks, including setting out, solid walling and cavity wall to complete, along with risk assessments and method statements
You can progress on to the Level 3 Diploma in Bricklaying or apply for apprenticeship opportunities with enhanced bricklaying skills
Bricklaying Level 1 or equivalent, and a grade 4 in GCSE English and maths, or be working towards Level 2 Functional Skills maths and/or English.
If you don’t already have an English and maths GCSE grade 9-4, you will continue to work towards this as part of your main program of study*. *Unless you are exempt. Please see condition of funding rules.
This programme of study involves other essential elements such as Maths, English, tutorials, preparation for employment, enrichment and work experience.
All safety equipment provided
The course is taught using both practical and theoretical methods. We will work with the skills you have gained previously in practical and build confidence before moving onto more technical work. If this is your first year in brickwork we will start with the basics. In the classroom we will use interactive games and model bricks to assist learning.
