Course overview
Functional Skills are a great way to build confidence, improve skills and can prepare you for GCSE. We have experienced tutors who can support you no matter what level you are already at. You may be a complete beginner or just want to refresh your memory and gain an up to date, nationally recognised, qualification.
On Functional Maths you can brush up on your everyday maths skills such as managing money, calculating and measuring, reading and analysing information and working with fractions, decimals and percentages confidently. You will have the opportunity to apply your maths skills to situations relevant to your life and chosen career.
Course information
You will complete tasks online that will allow your tutor to assess your progress. You will have regular reviews with your tutor to discuss this. When you are confident and ready, you complete a formal examination to gain your qualification.
Please note: the formal examination must be completed on the college premises.
On completion of the level 2 course you could apply for a vocational course, an Access course, GCSE maths or a level 3 maths course. The qualification at level 2 is accepted by most employers and education providers.
We ask all learners to complete a short assessment to make sure they are placed on the most appropriate level.
This course is fully funded – please enquire for more details.
You will work at your own pace towards the goals you set with your tutor, focussing on the areas and skills you feel are most important to you. The programme is tailored to meet your personal and professional needs which will be informed by a diagnostic assessment at the start of the course. As it is a fully online course, you will be expected to manage your workload and self-study time as tasks can be completed at a time that suits your availability.
