Introduction

With logistics being a rapidly growing industry in the Tees Valley area and the advent of the Freeport status, this course is designed to introduce attendees to worldwide shipping industry. This course is a great starting point if you are looking to begin your journey in the shipping industry. Alternatively, if you are an employer in the logistics sector, it can enhance the awareness and professional development of your staff about the sector they work in.

What will I learn

It is an interactive and engaging look at the maritime sector and is ideal for those who are new to the industry, or who work in roles that support activity within the maritime sector. Topics covered: • Significance of Shipping • The Sectors • Cargo Handling and Logistics • Introduction to Practitioners • Documentation The course is certificated by the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS)

How will I learn

The course includes discussion sessions, group work, workshops and multi-media presentations. The day gives participants plenty of opportunity to ask questions, explore concepts and work through practical cases.

What's next

You can progress to the Understanding Shipping 2-week course following this programme and also complete the Foundation Diploma in Shipping, should you wish to enhance your qualifications in the industry.
