It was all glitz and glam at Bishopsgarth School as students took to the catwalk.

Joined behind the scenes by students from Stockton Riverside College, 13 Year 11 pupils were transformed into budding prom princesses.

“The aim of the show was to raise funds for the end of year prom,” said the school’s Inclusion Manager, Kurt Salisbury. “So when Stockton Riverside College offered to lend a hand we snapped them up.”

A team of around 12 Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy and Production Arts Makeup students delivered assistance with hair, makeup and nails, while the college’s Performing Arts students offered top tips for confidence on the catwalk.

“The Stockton Riverside College students were phenomenal,” said Kurt. “And our students loved it.”

Modelling prom dresses from Stockton’s Bridal Bliss and a range of party dresses donated to the school by college staff and members of the public, along with additional support from Poppy’s Hairdressing, the Bishopsgarth students performed for an audience of family and friends.

Cheryl Hodds, Information Advisor at Stockton Riverside College, said: “This was a great experience for our students. It offered an insight into the work that goes into putting on a show like this and offered them further opportunity to practise their skills, working with external clients, in a real life situation.”
