Our Prince’s Trust Stockton Team have been helping out at Teesdale Children’s Day Nursery by giving the centre a revamp.

Part of the 12 week personal development programme, the students have to complete a series of different projects to help boost their future employment chances.

For their community project the Stockton team decided to help the nursery in Stockton.

Prince’s Trust Team Leader, Chris Barnes, said: “The students picked this place because they wanted to help the children at the nursery. It lifts the community.”

To cover the costs of the revamp the students took part in a sponsored static bike ride and held a cake sale in the college, raising £200.

The group also received £500 sponsorship from North Star Housing after successfully carrying out a “Dragon’s Den”- style presentation.

Prince’s Trust student, Deanna Knights, from Ingleby Barwick, said: “It was nice doing something for the wider community and seeing the end result was really good.”

David Cook, 16, of Norton said: “The Prince’s Trust is all about giving back to the community so it was really fulfilling doing something for the nursery.”
