Students at SRC Bede Sixth Form have been helping to spread the word about the importance of respect.
The college learners were challenged to put together a range of stalls, promoting different aspects of the fundamental British Values.

Putting the spotlight on themes such as equality and diversity, mental health and equal rights, the event encouraged students to not only find out more about these key issues but also share what they have learned.
“It was really interesting to see the different subjects that people chose,” said SRC Bede student Tegan, 16.
With her own group choosing to focus on mental health, specifically anxiety and depression, she said: “Personally I have learnt that mental health affects more people than you expect.
“It has shown us that there are ways to help if people are struggling.”
Fellow student Halle, 16, explained why her class chose to focus on equal rights.
“We chose it because it covers everything, not just sexism or ageism.”
Researching the subject in order to produce posters and a promotional display, she said: “We learnt a lot from the experience.”
The Respect Festival is an annual event across the college which aims to promote equality and diversity within our own society, bringing people together to learn from each other and encourage mutual respect.
