Introduction

Do you have an interest in reading and writing and would like to develop your skills whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification? Perhaps you are furthering your education or career and GCSE English is an essential requirement for your next step? Or maybe you want to develop confidence to enable you to support children and grandchildren in their studies? GCSE English could be the course for you!

What will I learn

Study an exciting range of both fiction and non-fiction texts to develop the skills required when analysing unseen texts. Analyse the use of language and structure for a range of purposes across a range of activities. You will also develop your creative writing skills both for narrative and non-fiction writing. The course also includes the study of spoken language with an opportunity to develop vital presentation skills.

How will I learn

You will attend one class a week where your tutor will guide you through each part of the course and provide all the reading materials you will need. Classroom learning will be supported through the college’s Microsoft Teams site which you will be given access to. It is here that you will have opportunities to complete online quizzes, revisit lesson content and engage with your tutor away from the classroom.
