T Level Digital Route – Digital Production, Design and Development

The UK continues to lead the way in developing new technologies and driving innovation to become a world leader in digital tech. Regionally and nationally, across the UK, there are a range of exciting career pathways and a growing number of job opportunities.

The T Level qualification is an exciting brand new two-year full-time course that has been designed in partnership with businesses and employers that is aimed to give you the knowledge and skills to support you move into a career in software production and design.

This course includes 45 days minimum of working with a local employer on an industry placement.

During the 2-year programme, you will develop the core knowledge and skills that are needed for entry to a range of software production and design occupations.

You will gain an understanding of software production and design including:

  • Programming (Python and more)
  • Employer set project
  • Data in Computing
  • Security in Computing
  • Digital Environments
  • Business Environments
  • Project Management

You will also undertake an industry placement, that will be aligned to your career aspirations identified in your career plan. This will be a minimum of 45 days.

The industry placements will support you to develop a breadth of new skills to provide you with a valuable opportunity to progress towards your career goals.

Entry requirements
Five GCSEs grades 4, or above, and must include a minimum of grade 5 in English, maths. A GCSE in computer science is also preferable. You will also require a successful interview.

Course information

You’ll be assessed in a range of ways, including:

  • Written examination which is externally marked
  • Employer set project which is externally marked
  • Occupational assessments
  • A range of assessments that blend the knowledge and skills outcomes into practical assignments.

You will also undertake a high quality, structured and outcomes-focused industry placement, this is an integral part of the new T-Level programme. The industry placement will be aligned to your career aspirations identified in your career plan. This will equate to a minimum of 9 weeks.
