This qualification will enable you to develop the knowledge and skills needed when supporting teaching and learning in the school environment. It is suitable for learners working in roles that support pupils’ learning including teaching assistants, learning support assistants and special needs assistants.

Course information
All units are internally assessed. Assessment includes:
- Written assignments
- Evidence from two observations in your placement setting.
You will be able to progress to a broad range of destinations including:
- Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
- Employment
- You will need to be at least 19 years of age and hold or be working towards level 2 functional skills in English and maths.
- You will need to be working or volunteering in a school for at least one day a week. This placement will need to be organised by the learner prior to starting the course.

You will attend college for three hours a week and will take part in a variety of taught sessions, workshops and placement opportunities.
To gain the qualification, learners will need to achieve at least a PASS grade in each of the academic units and will complete at least 180 hours in a placement either on a paid or voluntary basis working with children aged 5 years +.
