There's plenty to celebrate in the Carvey household today. Not only has mum Dawn passed her GCSE Maths, but her two children, Jack and Annabel, have made the grade too.
"We were all due to get our results today," said Dawn.
The good news is, not only did they all pass, but they coincidentally walked away with matching grades.
"It's been a hard slog," said the 54-year-old from Hurworth, who decided to brush up on her Maths after opting to retrain to become a teacher.
A baker by trade, Dawn is no stranger to working with numbers, regularly required to convert measurements from metric to imperial and back again.
But, she said: "Algebra has always been a real mental block."
Delighted to make the grade and able to celebrate with her children, she said "It has been 38 years since I last sat my Maths exam."
With all three managing to achieve those all-important C grades, Dawn said: "It is such a relief."
