You may have heard about The Skills Academy, the new educational offer opening soon in Billingham.Well now you can get your first glimpse inside the purpose-built facility thanks to our latest gallery of pictures.
Situated off Marsh House Avenue The Skills Academy aims to help young people aged 16 to 18 get a foot on the jobs ladder by offering a range of hands-on vocational courses.
With a capacity to cater for up to 180 students it will offer Entry and Level 1 courses for people who wish to pursue a career in Creative Arts and Media, Construction, Health and Social Care, Childcare, underpinned by essential skills including English and Maths, all delivered by Stockton Riverside College.
Due to open later this month, the £1.6m centre will also be home to the College’s Prince’s Trust Billingham Team programme.
The Skills Academy Manager, Lorna McLean said: “The Skills Academy is an excellent opportunity for young people to gain first steps in a trade or skill, and in such a lovely location.
“The building is amazing, the learning areas and equipment is state of the art. We look forward to welcoming students onto their first steps with The Skills Academy team, and watching them shine as they progress with us.”
The development of The Skills Academy follows a successful bid for Education Funding Agency (EFA) funding by Stockton Borough Council, in partnership with Egglescliffe School.
