Grace and Ali may have just missed out on a place in the Britain’s Got Talent grand final but the Stockton Riverside College students did the North-east proud.

Students wow BGT audiences with their highflying performance

Performing live on one of the contest’s live semi-final shows the pair clearly impressed the celebrity judges and viewers alike.

Named among the top three acts following the public vote, there came a nail biting wait as the finalists were announced.

But the Performing Arts Musical Theatre students were pipped at the post by comedian and magician Matt Edwards and eight-year-old magician Issy Simpson.

Having danced to Lay Me Down by Sam Smith, the pair received a standing ovation from Alesha Dixon, David Walliams and Amanda Holden.

Amanda described it as "utterly joyful". She said: "It felt cool and light and beautifully choreographed."

Simon said: "I really felt you put so much effort, thought and time into this. What you did tonight, the effort, the preparation and the focus, it was absolutely stunning."

While both David and Alesha said Grace and Ali deserved a place in the final.

Despite missing out on a spot in Sunday’s final, Grace and Ali’s Britain’s Got Talent journey may not be over yet. At the end of the week the judges will choose one wild card act to join the 10 finalists.

We have got our fingers crossed.
