We all know that Teesside has got talent but tonight (Saturday 6th May 2017) two Stockton Riverside College students are helping spread the word to a national audience.

The dancing duo are among the latest contestants to audition on the ITV talent show, Britain’s Got Talent.

While it is yet to be seen whether Grace Durkin, 17, and Ali Rasul, 16, can do enough to impress the celebrity judges, both are quick to say they have had a blast along the way.

Giving away no secrets, Grace, from Ingleby Barwick said: “It was so much fun, we loved it.”

Ali, of Hartlepool, added: “We were nervous waiting backstage but the nerves go when you walk on stage.”

The pair will be seen performing a contemporary dance to Gravity by Sara Bareilles, a dance inspired by a number they had choreographed for an earlier college performance.

Neither a stranger to performing for an audience, the pair are currently studying Performing Arts Musical Theatre at Stockton Riverside College.

Both agreed performing to Simon Cowell, David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden and a packed Birmingham Hippodrome Theatre proved an incredible experience. While meeting and chatting with Ant and Dec and the other contestants backstage just added to the fun.

“We chose to audition for Britain’s Got Talent because we wanted to share with everyone what our passion is and reach a much wider audience,” said Grace.

If Grace and Ali’s performance gets the nod from the judges tonight they will progress to the show’s deliberation round.

Britain’s Got Talent is on ITV1 at 8pm tonight (Saturday 6th May).
