Calling all budding young actors!

How would you like to take centre stage at ARC this Christmas?

Stockton Riverside College is looking for talented children to complete its cast in its festive production of Oliver.

With the lead role up for grabs, the search is on for a young performer able to bring the magic to life.

“Our festive show is always a highlight of the year,” said Stockton Riverside College’s course leader for Performing Arts Musical Theatre, Sara Durkin.

“Every year we always include younger children in our shows, to enhance the chorus and give them a real theatrical learning experience. This year we need a child to step up and take on the leading role.”

Although no previous experience is necessary, the college is looking for someone who is fresh, with a great singing voice, and a passion for performing that can really bring the role to life.

By opening up auditions to youngsters across Teesside, the team hope to uncover upcoming talent to meet the exceptionally high standards expected of the show.

Performed at ARC, Stockton Riverside College’s Christmas shows offer students as close to a professional experience as possible.

Following on from previous sell-out performances including The Wizard of Oz and Peter Pan, this year’s production will feature a jam-packed run of 32 shows.

“We are extremely excited to bring this opportunity to not only our students but also to the younger performers,” said Sara. “They will get the chance to work alongside our students in training, with professional practitioners in a professional theatre.

“For the role of Oliver we are looking for someone that is as natural and as believable as possible.”

To audition for the part of Oliver you must be aged eight to 13, a confident singer with bags of enthusiasm and a passion for performance.

The audition will consist of singing songs from the show, script readings and a dance workshop.

The college also has a limited number of places available for confident, young performers, aged seven to 16, to join the show’s student chorus.

Auditions will take place at Stockton Riverside College, Harvard Avenue, Stockton, on Thursday (October 12), at 4.15pm. To register to attend email: marketing@stockton.ac.uk
