As The Prince’s Trust celebrates its 40th anniversary, here at Stockton Riverside College, we are marking our own milestone.
Twenty years of delivering The Prince’s Trust Team programme and thousands of young unemployed people helped back into work, education or training.
Head of Department, Prince’s Trust, Gillian Hutchinson, said: “The Prince’s Trust Team programme supports young people from all backgrounds, many who face challenges and barriers progressing to their chosen career. The Prince’s Trust takes down those barriers.”
By taking part in a 12-week self-development programme, the young people are able to build many of the essential life skills all employers are looking for.
Delivered at a range of locations across Teesside and the wider region, the Team programme is a fun hands-on course that offers young people, aged 16 to 25, the chance to take part in a series of tasks and challenges.
Starting with a week-long residential, the group go on to carry out community projects, get two weeks valuable work experience and pick up CV and interview techniques.
Part of the celebrations to mark the charity’s 40th year, the spotlight landed on the great work of our own Prince’s Trust Teams this year with a special VIP presentation.
Among the invited guests was Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for International Development and Stockton South MP, James Wharton.
James Wharton MP said: “It’s been a pleasure to visit Stockton 81 Team and help them celebrate successfully completing their 12 week Prince’s Trust programme.
“Courses like these are vital in providing disadvantaged young people with more opportunities to get into work and also provides our local area with much needed economic benefits.
“The Prince’s Trust perform excellent work across the UK so it was fantastic to see their positive influence on local students from Stockton.
“All the young people I’ve met today have great potential – it’s a privilege to hear how The Trust has helped them realise that.”
With Teams delivered in Stockton, Billingham, Middlesbrough, Redcar, Darlington and Bishop Auckland, click here to find out more about the Prince’s Trust Team programme, delivered by Stockton Riverside College.
