How many steps will you take this March? No idea? Well now’s the chance to make your footfall count.

At Stockton Riverside College we are backing Cancer Research UK’s national Walk All Over Cancer Campaign.
The aim is to challenge yourself to meet the recommended 10,000 steps a day by getting active and raise some essential funds for a good cause along the way.
Launching the event at the college today Student Services Manager Julie Wilson said: “The college as a whole has been focusing on the health and wellbeing of its students and staff.
“We have recently introduced a number of health advocates to inform and encourage people to make healthy lifestyle choices.
“Cancer Research UK’s Walk Over Cancer campaign seemed to fit in with that message really well.”
Students and staff were quick to respond, with many signing up to monitor their step count.

To help people reach that almighty 10,000 figure the college got the event off to a lively start with the chance to take part in a lunch time step fitness session, followed by fruit kebabs.
“This is a great opportunity for people to step up and think about how active they are on a daily basis,” said Julie.
“By being more aware of the number of steps you are taking you are far more likely to make healthy choices, whether that’s opting for the stairs instead of taking the lift or getting out for a quick walk at lunch time.
With walking groups and fun fitness activities taking place across the college throughout the month, there’s never been a better time to boost your activity levels.
