Well done to table tennis enthusiast Andrew, who is celebrating bringing home a double silver medal haul.

The 18-year-old competed at a national level at the Table Tennis England St Neots Para Open in Cambridgeshire.

Picking up two pieces of silver to add to his collection, the Digital Media student said: “It was really good and my first medal as a senior.”

Andrew, who studies at The Skills Academy, started playing table tennis when he was still at school.

He said: “It was one of my teachers that suggested I try it and I liked it. At first it was more of a social thing and just something to do, but then I got better and better.”

Earlier this year Andrew was one of ten British players to train at the Table Tennis For All centre in Privezda, Slovakia. The camp was organised by the British Para Table Tennis (BPTT) to give young players the chance to experience international training.

With ambitions to one day compete in the Paralympics, Andrew said: “It is hard work, I train a lot of hours.” (Up to 15 hours a week.)

But he says it is worth it when you get a win.
