Students faced the dragons this week in a Dragon’s Den style presentation.

The team proposed their two community project plans to UK Steel Enterprise in order to get a grant to pay for their resources.

The group were looking to decorate somewhere close to their heart in order to help the local area. Their proposals were to redecorate Redcar community centre, Kidz Konnekt, or Coatham House.

After presenting the ideas to Peter from UK Steel Enterprise they decided they wanted to help out Coatham House, a place in Redcar that houses homeless young people. They are going to redecorate the entrance, stairwell and office to make it brighter and more welcoming because “it’s the first place people see when they visit the building”. The team are going to do this by making promotional materials and murals, and paint the inside.

After impressing the judges, the students received the needed £1100 for resources. Well done team!

The Redcar youngsters also had a sweet stall in the atrium at Redcar & Cleveland College to help raise money for their project, they managed to make £101.72.

Make sure you look out for next week’s blog where the team are going to starting the project.
