Students have been on work placement over the past few weeks all over the local area, including Donoghue Engineering and Zetland Café.
One of our students, Max, went Donoghue Engineering where he learnt all about welding and fabricating, as well as painting a shed and learning how to use power tools. The 20-year-old said: “It gave me a foot in the door for a potential job there. It was class and the people were really friendly.”
Over at Zetland Café, Rebecca from Darlington, was on her work placement making drinks, using the till, making food and washing up. She said: “I enjoyed it, it has really helped with my confidence.”
Both Max and Rebecca now have the opportunity for apprenticeships with the companies. Well done!
