The beauty of our Foundation Skills courses is that they are made to match every individual learner.

rachelThat means whatever your goal, whether it be to live more independently or find a way into work, we can help give you the skills to achieve.

Rachel Heads, from Ingleby Barwick, is among those celebrating her route to success.

The 23-year-old not only impressed bosses during a 10-week work placement at The Stottie Company, but has gone on to secure herself another placement at Little Sprouts, an organisation bringing together communities through cooking.

Having successfully completed the Skills for Employment, Training and Personal Development at Stockton Riverside College, Rachel said: “The best bit has been meeting new people and making friends.”

Taking part in a whole host of activities and trips on the course Rachel has developed new skills and grown in self-esteem.

Rachel’s mum Pauline has certainly noticed a difference in her daughter, saying: “She is definitely a lot more confident than when she first started the course.”

A budding young baker, Rachel, who has a moderate learning difficulty, hopes to ultimately go on to find work in the catering industry.
