Our Prince’s Trust Billingham Team were at Billingham Forum last week to help them celebrate their 50th anniversary.

The youngsters, who are on a 12 week programme, raised money for Ash Trees Academy by selling cakes, face painting, having a name the bear, guess the sweets in the jar, and doing team building activities with members of the public.

Prince’s Trust student, Jonathan, said how much fun they had helping out: “It was really good and I really enjoyed it. There was a really nice atmosphere.”

Fellow student, Sam, from Billingham, loved fundraising and can’t wait for the rest of the course, he said: “I’ve loved it. Everything we have done so far has really helped with my confidence.”

Team Leader of the Prince’s Trust Billingham Team, Martin Copley, spoke about how proud he is of the students for helping out: “We went down for the celebrations and the students did a range of activities and engaged with the local community.”

He continued: “I’m really pleased and proud of the effort they put in. They were so professional. They are a fine example of what the community needs to see of young people.”

The students raised a total of £128 at Billingham Forum, plus £190 was raised for doing a sponsored walk up Roseberry Topping. In total they raised £318 for Ash Trees Academy.
