Hard work and dedication has paid off for a Stockton Riverside College student.

Painting & Decorating student, Daniel Fawcett, is celebrating success after winning Student of the Month in Construction.

Painting & Decorating Lecturer, Tony Ferguson, said: “I put Daniel forward as he has travelled the most distance in the shortest period of time. Since meeting Daniel at a taster day three and a half years ago, he has progressed incredibly and his confidence has grown so much. Whenever we have tests he is always at the top.”

The former North Shore student was presented a certificate and a £10 voucher, he said: “I felt nervous but really happy because I wasn’t expecting it at all, but I feel like I have improved a lot since I first started.”

Daniel, 17, said he chose to study at Stockton Riverside College because of the down to earth teachers and because he wants to go on to work in the painting & decorating industry in the future.

The Construction Student of the Month Award recognises students’ achievements across the department, recognising those who show commitment, determination and work hard.
